Binary Park + Haujobb

While earlier in the year saw the release of the bands debut LP The Deviated see's Binary Park come into their own. Mixing the subtlety of the LP with a seemingly new found vocal energy works wonders for the band - go get this!

Earlier in the year Haujobb released The Dead Market E.P. with the promise of an album later on in the year. While this album dropped quite quietly it's worth a listen; laid back, distinctly Haujobb tracks await your listening pleasure!

Acretongue & Encephalon

There's a strange allure to finding new electronic artists, it's like you're a little kid playing in the woods for the first time - there's something magical about it. Acretongue is a band I've only recently heard, and while the groups 2011 LP Strange Cargo is utterly enthralling sometimes it's nice to start from the beginning of a bands discography. Luckily Nihil is completely free, go get it here.

Awhile back I posted one of my absolute, all time favorite E.P's Drowner from the little known group Encephalon. Turns out the group's debut is finally here - everyone I give you The Transhuman Condition. It might be a bad thing to have high hopes before I've even delved into it, but I really think this is going to be an excellent debut - as large as the album art at the very least!

Swans - White Light From The Mouth of Infinity

Post-Punk + Industrial. A 4.5/5, yep.

Soman, Surgyn, CTRL

Soman, being signed to the ProNoize label, have always been a band known for their hard hitting tracks. With their latest release, Noistyle, Soman tone down the beats and slow down for an album that shows signs of a band trying to evolve. From the guest vocals on "Side Chain" and "Skin Deep" to the minimalist (don't get all excited or you'll be in for a huge let down) cover of "Blue Monday" featuring Sarah Blackwood Soman seems to be changing, and I'm not sure if it's for the better. For a hard hitting song check out the title track, perhaps it may strike your fancy.

Surgyn are from Scottland, and it's cool to see somewhere not normally associated with industrial begin to make their mark. Being entirely self produced Vanity comes off quite clean, and the only real downfall is that nothing here is new to the avid industrial fan. It's worth a listen if you hunger for a new name and face however.

This has been shared before, but deserves the spotlight again.

While futurepop and synthpop can often leave the listener bored, it's a genre pitfall many a listener has to stomach when checking out new artists. When it seems as if every up and coming group wants to imitate the juggernauts vocally, and synth lines remain stale an undeveloped it really can be hard to listen to anything that looks a little bit too blase; luckily CRTL is luckier than the rest. CTRL's sound is, in a word, nostalgic. As E.P. opener "City" begins the nostalgia of acts long since past (Depeche Mode) and ones dear to many an electronic lovers heart (VNV Nation). Here are seven tracks that deserve your attention, that weep nostalgia.

Alien Sex Fiend, Phosgore, Psyclon Nine, SAM

We need not forget the classics, and while none of us (or maybe one of you fans, or people who stumbled across the site, you might have I suppose) were able to see the Batcave in action in London Alien Sex Fiend remind us all that it was the place to be for that particularly delightful post-punk, and occasionally early industrial, sound.

While on the search for a particular brand of aggrotech I stumbled across Phosgore, and to be fair while it paled in direct comparison to my desired sound (see SAM below) this album is by no means mediocre. While eventually groups in this genre can start to sound the same there is enough variation here to let seasoned listeners know that this isn't a carbon-copy clone, and lucky when you get the people dancing the bands originality becomes rather negligible.

While many have heard Psyclon Nine's later albums the debut from the group focuses on a more industrial/aggrotech image and really puts in perspective how much the band grew as time went on. While Nero still favors that particular flare of distortion the samples and effects are far less developed and nuanced that their final works. Don't be fooled however, this is still the same band that completely rocked the industry and brought some shock back after Manson stole it all away.

Synthetic Adrenaline Music came blasting back with a 2010 album that truly sounds unique and absolutely makes the dancefloor the DJ's b**ch track after track! Even with the help of Last.fm nothing else even comes close to the sound of this album, and for an fans of aggressive, powernoise-esque, 140+bpm music this is a real treat.

CygnosiC - A Deity In Pain

From the cover art to the beginning Silent Hill like drone of "To Spread the Chaos" CygnosiC really know how to grab my attention. Vocals distorted just enough to make the audience tilt their heads, beats that are danceable yet dark, CygnosiC's debut album is worth checking out.

xXRx - 333 Ch1

Crazy things happen late at night, some good and some bad. If for some reason you searched for me last Tuesday you would have found me in luc1d's living room, listening to the dark ambient and industrial tones of the his latest project, xXRx. The latest album is meant to be the beginning of a trilogy, and while it's always great to know that there's more to come from an album that is fast becoming a favorite that's not the best part of 333 Ch1. The ambiance found throughout the album is reminiscent of a tastefully done horror score, often I get the urge to watch Silent Hill while this is playing; though I feel that describing this album such is almost doing it a disservice it's one of the only ways I can describe it to potential listeners. One of the standout tracks is "Ma Mere," whose beginning synths conjure memories of numerous Birthday Massacre songs though it is far creepier than anything Chibi and Co. have done. While I should have been sleeping and getting prepared for college the next morning I most definitely don't consider my time wasted this is one album that shouldn't be missed, go check it out!

Feindflug - Vulk Und Armee

If you're in the mind for some purely instrumental Industrial I cannot recommend Feindflug enough. While the German group has quite a bit of controversy surrounding them I couldn't care less when masterful tracks like "AK-47" and "Feindbild" are blaring out my headphones.

KMFDM - Hau Ruck

KMFDM has been around for awhile, yet the group has always been hit or miss for me. Their brand of industrial has garnered many fans of all ages, and so far the one album that I can thoroughly enjoy from beginning to end is Hau Ruck. From the fast, 144+ bpm's of "Free Your Hate" to the gorgeous "Professional Killer" Hau Ruck makes for an entertaining listen. And while the group still doesn't take themselves completely serious that's part of the albums charm; it's over the top, quirky, and yet somehow you find yourself coming back to it again and again.

Manufactura - The Pleasures of Damned

After ten years of making music, Manufactura have compiled a greatest hits album. The album includes old songs chosen by the fans, two new (unreleased) songs, and a crapload of remixes. It expands two discs of material. If you've never heard of this band before, now is the time to listen! Here's the first song on the compilation:

Left Spine Down - Voltage 2.3 Remixed and Revisited

What do you get when you have your only album remixed by the likes of Combichrist, The Birthday Massacre, Angelspit, and KMFDM? One hell of a 20 track album that's what! Each artist adds variety to LSD's already solid tracklist with their own take on "Last Daze" and none get repetitive. The entire album practically oozes fun, ever hear The Birthday Massacre scream anywhere else before??? While this is my first foray into LSD and one really should start with their debut this is too catchy and eclectic to ignore!

Einsturzende Neubauten - Halber Mensch [1985]

There's something quirky about listen to music with lyrics I can't understand, at least for me.  I don't know whether it's the fact that it allows me to focus more on the music or the exotic factor.  In any case Einsturzende Neubauten are a pinnacle industrial act from Germany and this album is one of their best, if not their magnum opus. 

Blackcentr - Disease

VampireFreaks occasionally offers up some good free Industrial, and that's where California natives Blackcentr fall. Apparently they are making waves locally and opened for Combichrist earlier this year so they've got something going for them. One of the first things noticed upon playing Disease is that this a group who really love their beats; each track seems produced so as to bring these to the forefront. The vocals switch between harsh ("Salvation") and some rather nice cleans ("Down") and the synths are noninvasive and normal. For longtime genre listeners or those who are critical about music the E.P. brings to mind one Norwegian industrial group that everybody loves/hates, and while it will help Blackcentr sell I'm glad that they show just enough of a soul that they haven't completely gone Combichrist yet.
