Evol Intent - Era of Diversion (2008)

While it might be a bit old Era of Diversion still has plenty of merit left to offer. With a whopping 19 tracks the album is littered with different directions, sounds, and samples; if you haven't already go give it a try!

Noisia - Program/Regurgitate

Time for some new Noisia, which also means it's time to check out some of the most inventive and addictive drum and bass around. The new 12" features Program (featuring German heavyweights Phace) and the diabolical Regurgitate.

London Elektricity - Syncopated City

I've seen things, you people wouldn't believe.

I don't mean "you people" in an offensive way. Damm you're insecure! Anyway, today I bring you more zazzy, futuristic d'n'b. The style is known as liquid funk... yeah, I know. Despite not being creative at naming the style, London Elektricity (a.k.a. Tony Colman) is extremely good at what he does. While this is not his most recent album it's also his best and most accessible.

See what I see:

Telemetrik - My Lightyear

So tell me, and be honest: How cool is your city? Pretty cool? Well, I hate to break it down to you, but your city hasn’t got anything on Rouge City. Period.

What is Rouge City you ask? It’s only the best track from Telemetrik’s album: My Lightyear. His light year. How awesome would it be to own a light year? Not as awesome as owning this album, let me tell you. It’s essentially drum and bass, but it’s so much more than that. It’s not “dirty” drum and bass, but don’t you run away just yet you dammed purists! It’s more melodic and accessible, yet it stays with you for a long time.

If you are new to drum and bass, get it. If you are a seasoned veteran, get it. If you are a deaf hobo with nothing to lose but a heart of gold, you better get it or else I’m selling your vital organs.

So check this out and put your city to shame:

Amazing, right? Now move to a better city.

Tonikom - The Sniper's Veil

An agent of darkness and variety, Tonikom bestows upon the masses an incredible sophomore release. Run entirely by one of the most attractive women to ever participate in the underground, Tonikom is under the label Hymen Records (which I find incredibly humorous). Her music is a diverse composition which combines drum and bass with IDM, aggrotech, and some dubstep, and is solidified with an immense and glorious sound-scape of dark/avant-garde ambience.

Submerged - Before Fire I Was Against Other People

So Ohm Resistance founder Submerged finally got around to delivering us his long awaited sophomore album, and it's a fucking scorcher. A violent pastiche of subsonic dubstep, beaten down drum & bass and schizophrenic breakcore, Before Fire I Was Against Other People has lived up to our expectations more than we ever thought possible.

Noisia - Deception

Speaking of drum & bass, have a Noisia track

Andy C - Nightlife 5

Getting into the world of drum & bass can be something of a daunting task, and there are numerous avenues to take before you manage to stumble over something worthwhile. While the more mainstream inclined of you out there might jump on the Pendulum bandwagon and ride that fucker until something more dignified comes along, you could instead pull up a seat and look into Andy C. Regarded as one of the greatest d&b dj's/producers of all time, Andy C has spent the better part of the last decade working and fine tuning his now landmark Nightlife series. And the recently released 5th addition to the series is easily his best yet. Neither overly chaotic and yet bombastic enough to keep you entertained Nightlife 5 is the perfect stepping stone into the world of drum & bass, as well as being a quintessential mix for any seasoned bass-head.

Audio - Genesis Device

Not just one of my favourite drum & bass tracks of 2010, but a fantastic album in its own right

Black Sun Empire - Lights And Wires

An oldie (well, late last year) but it's Black Sun Empire so I don't really care. This is how drum & bass should sound

The Third Eye Foundation - The Dark

Enter a world of darkness and chaos. One that is both strange, yet strangely familiar, as if a recurring dream. As the dark ambient creeps in, and the souls of the damned wail upon your entering the abyss, let it be known that this place is your final destination. Drum & bass beats will pummel, and the air will suffocate, but the experience must not be missed.
